Pilot Program Helps Underprivileged Families with Internet Security

In 2010, the NetMission Youth team initiated a pilot program aimed at helping underprivileged families in Hong Kong with Internet security problems. Term members conducted over 20 home visits to provide face-to-face services to parents and kids in one of the most digitally exclusive public estates in Hong Kong. The project help NetMission Ambassadors understand that the digital divide amongst youth in Hong Kong roots from social and psychological problems, rather than the lack of technical support. As a result, we are hoping to consolidate a booklet based on their experience to promote the healthy use of ICT, as well as information about anti-virus software, correct attitudes and cyber bullying.
