Training

The selected NetMission Ambassadors will participate in an intensive training program including training camp, seminars, workshops, as well as site visits. The training program will invite experts on the subjects of Internet governance, digital inclusion and other related areas to share insights, experiences and thoughts with the NetMission Ambassadors.

  

 

Community Projects

After the training period, NetMission Ambassadors are granted a large degree of freedom and flexibility to design, organize and execute community projects based on their understanding of what Internet means to them, in whatever format that suits them best. They are hence free to arrange their own roles, responsibilities and coordinate schedule with your teammates. DotAsia will support NetMission Ambassadors on the way as a facilitator to help them achieve their objectives.

International Exposure

NetMission Ambassadors who demonstrate commitment, make significant contributions and show a good understanding of NetMission’s work will be selected and sponsored by DotAsia to represent the team on International and regional conferences. These mainly include:


UNIGF United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UNIGF)

The United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UNIGF) is a multi-stakeholder forum serves to bring people together from various stakeholder groups as equals, in discussions on public issues relating to the Internet. It also informs and inspires those with policy-making power in both the public and private sectors. At annual meeting delegates discuss, exchange information and share good practices with each other. The UNIGF facilitates a common understanding of how to maximize Internet opportunities and address risks and challenges that arise.

The UNIGF is also a space that gives developing countries the same opportunity as wealthier nations to engage in the debate on Internet governance and to facilitate their participation in existing institutions and arrangements.

During the UNIGF, a wide range of workshops, best practice forum, open forums with the main themes of openess, security, diversity, access and critical Internet resources are held.


ICANN Meeting  ICANN Meeting

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) coordinates the Domain Name System (DNS), Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, space allocation, protocol identifier assignment, generic (gTLD) and country code (ccTLD) Top-Level Domain name system management, and root server system management functions.

ICANN meetings are held three times each year in different regions of the globe to enable attendees from around the world to participate in person. ICANN meetings offer a variety of sessions such as workshops, open forums, and working meetings on the development and implementation of Internet policies. Typical attendees include government representatives, business managers, IT managers and consultants, DNS industry managers and experts, intellectual property managers, academics, and others invested in the continuing stable, secure and resilient operation of the Internet.

A broad range of Internet-related topics are discussed at each meeting. ICANN meetings also provide the opportunity for an internationally diverse group of individuals and organizations to come together and discuss and develop policies for the Internet‘s naming systems.


APNG CampAPNG Camp

APNG is an acronym for Asia Pacific Networking Group. It is an Internet organization, which is committed to the progress of networking infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region. It also focuses on the research and development of various other technologies related to networking and online services across this region.

APNG camp is a camp for the Next Generation leaders of APNG, where the senior members of the organization and the Next Generation members learn and work together. Through these camps, APNG promotes various activities of the Next Generation and serves as a platform to share information, discuss issues, and plan opportunities for developing countries. These camps also assist in understanding the Asian view of the Internet and thus create opportunities keeping the perspectives in mind. These camps also focus on researching on various technological as well as non-technological aspects, which may assist in the development of the Internet in the Asia-Pacific region. The camps are held regularly at various international locations.


APNIC Conferences  APNIC Conferences

Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) provides number resource allocation and registration services that support the global operation of the Internet. It is a not-for-profit, membership-based organization whose members include Internet Service Providers, National Internet Registries, and similar organizations.

APNIC conducts two open policy meetings each year. These give the community the chance to come together for policy development, decision-making, education, information sharing, and networking – both professional and social. The first APNIC Meeting of each year is held as a conference track of the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) and the second as a standalone conference. The meetings are held in various locations throughout the Asia Pacific and often involve cultural elements of the host economy.
