Case Study Series 2023 is a series of blog posts initiated and presented by the ambassadors of NetMission Academy 2023 – an online Internet governance academy for youth in the Asia Pacific region. The series documented the extended studies of the ambassadors on different topics, including:
- Access and Empowerment
- Human Rights Online
- Cybersecurity, Privacy and Safer Internet
- Digital economy and emerging technologies
- Diversity, Inclusion & Sustainability on the Internet & Internet Governance
This series aims to raise public awareness of various Internet governance issues and add youth’s opinions to the conversation in related Internet governance discourse at national, regional, and international levels, as well as to showcase Asia-Pacific-related examples and analyse the related issues from the perspective of the Asia-Pacific region.
In NetMission Case Study Series 2023, a total of 5 chapters are included. See which cases are included in the series this year:
Chapter 1
We explored the power of social media for digital citizenship with examples from the Philippine Presidential Elections 2022 and in Ethiopia respectively.
Chapter 2
We talked about the dark side of deep fakes and explored their potentially dangerous consequences on society, such as cyberbullying, and sexual harassment.
Chapter 3
In Chapter Three, we talked about cyber threats experienced by children, Sharenting, and children’s sexual abuse online. We also explored the role of data governance and privacy protection in protecting teenagers and children in the digital age.
Chapter 4
In this chapter, we explored the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in defending against cybersecurity threats, such as using AI for malware prevention. The article covers examples of the 2020 Colonial Pipeline Attack, and the 2017 WannaCry Ransomware Attack.
Chapter 5
In the final chapter, we shared some insights from the SDGs, universal acceptance, and Cloudflare’s sustainability practices, and discussed how to innovate for a greener and more inclusive Internet.
