Background

Since 2009, NetMisssion Ambassadors, a group of dedicated young devoted to promote harmonious Internet development, attended the Internet Governance Forum organized by United Nations annually, after the meetings, they have the feeling that it is important to encourage more youth and teenagers as one of the Internet users engaging in the Internet Governance Discussion. Coming to the 11th United Nations IGF in 2016, “Youth Internet Governance Forum Hong Kong (HKYIGF)” Program is introduced by DotAsia Organisation and NetMisssion Ambassadors, with fully supported by Microsoft Hong Kong, which aims to provide mass education among high schools in engaging Next Generation from Hong Kong to take part in global discussion as digital citizens, facilitates them to build up the sense of belonging to the digital society, understand their rights and accountable for their responsibilities with mutual respect to other Internet users. At the same time, electing youth representatives on behalf of Hong Kong to attend the 11th United Nations Internet Governance Forum in Mexico in 6 – 9 Dec 2016 and exchange views on Internet Governance issues with stakeholders from different part of the world.

Vision

    • Establish a sustainable annual platform for young generations to speak up on Internet Issues
    • Build up a sense of digital citizenship of youth in Hong Kong
    • Engage and empower youth in Internet Governance participation
    • Bring Hong Kong’s youth voice to the global Internet Governance discussion through publishing reports to the UNIGF Secretariat
