Core Team
The Core Team leads the strategic direction of NetMission.Asia, ensuring smooth coordination across all projects, initiatives, and working groups. They represent the community in external collaborations and partnerships while overseeing governance and operations to keep the mission moving forward.
Sherry Shek | Program Manager

Leading NetMission.Asia today, Sherry Shek builds programs that equip young people to articulate evidence-based positions and bridge perspectives, and support newcomers to become leaders who actively shape the Asia-Pacific’s digital future.
She bridges research and advocacy in internet governance, bringing conceptual and analytical depth from her research experience examining the mutual shaping between power structures and technology. Her research expertise centers on how state power interacts with technology’s own agency, exploring how governance can redirect the Internet’s trajectories while being simultaneously constrained and enabled by technological architectures.
As a NetMission Ambassador (2016-2017), she discovered global multistakeholder governance and realized the empowerment potential of the Internet and emerging technologies. What draws her to this field is its inclusive, diverse community where individuals can exert genuine influence. However, she also recognizes its structural limitations.
This drives her work to transform decision-making systems that remain closed to young people. When governance excludes youth voices, it preserves outdated interests and limits responsiveness to the future.
Bea Guevarra | Head of Program Development

Bea Guevarra is the Head of Program Development at NetMission.Asia, where she leads the design and implementation of youth-focused initiatives that foster meaningful participation in Internet governance across the Asia Pacific. She first entered the Internet governance community in 2017 and has since become a driving force in youth engagement and digital policy education in the region.
Originally joining NetMission.Asia as a Student Ambassador, Bea has grown alongside the organization—serving as a mentor, facilitator, and core organizer for key programs including the NetMission Academy and the Asia Pacific Youth IGF. Her work has helped shape inclusive, accessible learning spaces where young people develop the skills to actively contribute to multistakeholder processes.
Based in the Philippines, Bea holds a degree in Information Technology from Southville International School and Colleges, where she is also completing her graduate studies. With a strong foundation in both tech and community-building, she is passionate about creating pathways for underrepresented voices to influence the digital future.
Socheata Sokhachan | Head of Community Engagement

Socheata Sokhachan is a passionate Internet governance advocate from Cambodia, currently serving as Head of Community Engagement at NetMission.Asia. She first joined as a Student Ambassador in the 2023–2024 cohort and quickly emerged as a leading voice in regional youth engagement. Since then, she has taken on pivotal roles in program development, community-building, and strategic outreach.
At NetMission.Asia, Socheata has led the planning and facilitation of youth-focused initiatives including the APAC Youth WSIS+20 Series, NetMission@APRALO, and the Asia Pacific Youth IGF 2024 & 2025. As a member of the NetMission Academy Organizing Committee (2024–2025), she plays a key role in shaping participant experience, while also contributing to content strategy through her work with the Digital Content & Research Committee (DCRC).
Beyond NetMission, Socheata’s impact spans the broader Internet governance ecosystem. She is a current member of the APrIGF Multistakeholder Steering Group (2025), a youth facilitator for APIGA, and a core organizer of YIGF Cambodia since 2023. She continues to champion youth inclusion, digital equity, and cross-cultural collaboration in both regional and global forums.
Nawal Munir | Strategic Content & Research Manager

Nawal Munir first joined NetMission.Asia as a Student Ambassador in the 2023-2024 cohort, where she was recognized as one of the Top 10 most actively engaged participants. Now serving as Strategic Content & Research Manager, Nawal plays a central role in shaping youth-focused narratives and research within the Internet governance space.
An Electrical Engineer from Pakistan, Nawal brings a unique blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and a passion for social impact. At NetMission.Asia, she leads the editorial direction of the NetMission News and Policy Digest, making complex digital policy issues more accessible to youth across the Asia Pacific. She also contributes to key research efforts through her involvement in the Governance Policy Committee and Asia Pacific Policy Outreach (APPO) working group.
Nawal’s commitment extends beyond content—she has supported program design as part of the Organizing Committees for both the NetMission Academy and the Asia Pacific Youth IGF 2024. Her contributions to NetMission’s submission to the OHCHR on AI and racial discrimination reflect her growing engagement with rights-based digital governance.
A fellow of APIGA 2024 and a multilingual learner currently studying Mandarin, Nawal continues to bridge cultures, disciplines, and communities in her mission to build a more inclusive digital future.
Jenie Fernando | Strategic Communications Manager

Jenie Fernando has been actively involved in Internet governance initiatives both in Sri Lanka and across the Asia-Pacific. Her journey with NetMission.Asia began as a Student Ambassador in 2023–2024, and over time, she has taken on expanded responsibilities in youth mentorship, digital communications, and policy outreach.
As Strategic Communications Manager and an active member of the Digital Content & Research Committee (DCRC), Jenie leads the development of the Monthly Newsletters, NetMission Digest, and blog articles—key tools that make complex regional and global Internet governance issues accessible and engaging for youth across the Asia-Pacific.
She also supports the NetMission Academy as a Buddy, mentoring participants as they prepare policy presentations and deepen their understanding of Internet governance. In addition, Jenie served as a member of the Organizing Committee for yIGF, helping to coordinate youth-focused policy dialogues and amplify youth participation in regional Internet governance processes.
Beyond NetMission, Jenie has played a key role in Sri Lanka’s digital advocacy space. She is a committed member of the Sri Lanka School on Internet Governance (LKSIG) and has contributed to numerous local programs focused on youth digital skills development, women’s empowerment in tech, and digital safety awareness. Through her work with the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) and grassroots initiatives, she advocates for inclusive, community-centered approaches to digital policy and literacy.
Vinayak Bharadwaz | Program Development Lead

Vinayak Bharadwaz is a youth Internet governance advocate from India, currently serving and having served in the organizing committees of NetMission Academy, Youth IGF India and Local APIGA India for the past 3 years. A NetMission.Asia alumnus and recent inSIG 2025 fellow, he works to advance inclusive dialogue and youth participation in digital governance across the Asia Pacific. With the Internet Society India Mumbai Chapter, he has contributed to regional initiatives promoting accessible Internet ecosystems, including the Internet Governance Praxis Series in Shillong, Meghalaya. Vinayak is also an Internet Society technical trainer & alumnus, focusing on grassroots infrastructure connectivity solutions and community-driven innovation in the digital space, especially in his region of north-east India.
Khushbakht | Organizational Development Lead

Khushbakht, known as Khushi, is an Electrical Engineering graduate from Pakistan who’s always been drawn to one question: how can I actually create impact? She found her answer after joining the NetMission Academy in 2023-2024 as an Ambassador, where she discovered that real impact isn’t just about what you create, but how you make complex ideas feel accessible, engaging, and actionable for the people who need them most. This is where her passion for art and creativity comes in: she uses design to spark curiosity and make people want to lean in, not tune out.
Since then, Khushi has been a member of organizing committees across the region including the NetMission Academy, Asia Pacific Youth IGF, and APIGA Pakistan, approaching each one as both a way to learn and contribute. Whether she’s coordinating events, crafting participant experiences, or figuring out how to translate dense ideas into something people actually want to engage with, she’s constantly thinking about how her work can open doors for others the way this community opened doors for her.
For Khushi, this is part of a bigger journey toward building her career, but she’s doing it her way, using creative thinking and technical problem-solving to bridge the gap between what policy could be and what it actually feels like for the people it affects. She believes young people are ready to lead if given the right platforms. She’s still learning, still building, and honestly, that’s the part she loves most.
