Bringing together youth across Asia for the good of the Internet!

Carrying on our momentum from November’s UNIGF in Paris, the NetMission Program for the 2018-2019 class has just begun! With us opening our doors to participants Asia-wide, we are happy to see a more varied and exceptional cohort than ever.

The NetMission Academy welcomes 30 new members, coming from all over the Asia Pacific region. We have participants from an unprecedented 16 economies including Australia, Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Furthermore we are excited that many are foreign students studying abroad, such as Oumou, a Malian studying in ChangChun, China!

This year’s cohort leans towards the fairer gender, with 7 male and 23 female participants. They come from a wide range and even distribution across areas of study; from computer science to business analytics, to law and creative arts. This blend of skills and perspectives will surely help them as they go on to form working groups and projects following the academy course.

Our first orientation session was held on the 5th of December, and despite some technical issues served to help us to get to know each other better. As always it is exciting to find out about people’s’ hobbies and interests, as well as their motivations and goals. As it turns out this year’s class shares many common interests, including languages, singing, and yoga.

We look forward to see what the new year brings us, as we kick off the NetMission Academy training sessions from January across February. Stay tuned for more updates from us and our future Ambassadors!
